*SPOILER WARNING FOR THE WHOLE TRILOGY*
The district’s barely knew her…Goodbye Lucy Gray, we hardly knew you”
The way Lucy Gray haunted the whole narrative in this book is keeping me up at night. The use of her songs and quotes from TBOSBAS might actually send me to an early grave just like all the other tributes…no cause I was NOT prepared. And the amount of spoilers I got for this book is genuinely crazy. ITS ONLY BEEN OUT FOR LIKE LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I got spoilers on the whole book, Lenore Doves death, Ma and Sid, Wyatt, Lou Lou. And obviously I know that the tributes were gonna die but like I was getting explicit spoilers on how they died as well
Like bruhh at least add a spoiler warning.
But anyways onto the book. I fear I didn’t cry at all in the first part. Only in the ending when Lenore died I was SOBBING my eyes out. I’m happy that Haymitch was able to keep his promise to Lenore Dove but he does not get enough credit with how he handled his trauma. If it was me they would have to keep pumping morphling into my veins. And in the epilogue when he was talking about Katniss and how he couldn’t help but call her “sweetheart” because of Louella
just stab me in the heart at that point.
I might get murdered alive for this opinion but after this book I feel kind of bad for the careers. Like they were trained from birth for these deadly murder trials and have to be killers. Thats honestly so sad. Don’t get me wrong i still hate Silka for what she did to Wellie but I felt a lot of sympathy for her when she accepted the chocolate.
Also one of the deaths that is haunting me has to be Ampert's. He was literally EATEN ALIVE by Capitol mutts. HE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A CORPSE. Any sympathy I had for president snow(which was very little) is gone. He killed all of Haymitch’s allies and his whole entire family and his lover. All because of a 2 month situationship btw. I’m gonna be so unwell in theaters oh my goshhh.
And I heard a theory on TikTok about how Plutarch was searching for mockingjays previous to Katniss and I feel like that’s true. Like with Haymitch I think he was supposed to be one of the mockingjays as well.
Side note I feel like it was so hard to connect with the characters because every single 5 pages someone was dying, like damn. Suzanne saw that “Snow lands on top” edit and decided everyone had to suffer.
To conclude nobody will be hearing from me till November 20th because I am in mourning for my close personal friend Haymitch Abernathy.

I'm reading the sunrise on the reaping rn too! I'm abot 100 pages in and so far so good! I'm too scared to read this review because of the spoilers but I will come back after I finish the book.
